Josephine Tilloy's work straddles the border between performance and choreographic writing. It hinges on research into movement with authors, researchers, performers of varying experience and audiences.
She applies dramaturgical tools to a specific subject in order to create an intimate fiction around a social issue, and to give audiences a kinesthetic understanding of her pieces.
She explores the different ways in which musical and vocal material can be used to create movement. Josephine Tilloy has worked with the sensation of a ternary rhythm, and today with the deployment of laughter. What interests her is the way these materials are set in motion to create a choreographic language and unfold a message.
The material is approached through its texture, its technicality, its sensation, until characters appear in relation to the performer between fiction and reality, at the crossroads of the imaginary.
